Celia discovered swing dancing in Melbourne in 1999, instantly became hooked and has been dancing ever since. Celia loves the silent language of partner dancing, as well as the freedom of musical interpretation that swing dancing allows. She is very passionate about teaching great dance connection (lead and follow technique), musicality and the history of the dance. Sharing her love for the dance, watching people form friendships and develop into confident social dancers is what keeps her teaching.
“With almost 20 years of swing dance memories there are too many highlights to list here, but one of my favourites would have to be dancing with Mr Frankie Manning himself (he is considered by most as the grandfather of Lindy Hop, being one of the original dancers of the 1930s).”
In the past, Celia taught our classes in Geelong, Laverton and Werribee, won awards competing domestically, competed internationally and performed in one of Swing Patrol’s original performance troupes, Scat Pack.
Celia rejoined the teaching team in 2019 and is loving teaching our most western venue at Yarraville. Her students rave about her larger than life energy and how fun and easy she makes every class …. Apparently, everyone leaves feeling a sense of achievement and the biggest smiles! We are so excited and lucky to have her back on the team.
