Lindy Friday is Swing Patrol’s newest monthly social dance night.
Inspired by Easy Does It, this beginner-friendly social dance will be a cool and casual spot to swing out into the weekend.

Regular hosts Jason John and Kate Bray curate this monthly event, starting with a lesson designed to give newcomers a few moves for the dance floor, and more experienced dancers the chance to warm up their feet, meet new people and even practice their non-dominant dance role. Then it’s hours of social dancing to a roster of local swing DJs. Fun for the whole community!

FAQs
Q: Do I have to dance Lindy?
A: Dance whatever you like. Lindy Hop, Charleston, Solo Jazz, Balboa, Shag … whatever treats your feet. Expect the music to be a good solid swinging pace, ideal for Lindy Hopping all night, but with the occasional faster tune and maybe a few slow grooves or blues tunes.

Q: Is it BYO?
A: No alcohol at this event. There will not be a bar, and we are not licensed for byo alcohol. Of course you can bring your own water bottle, and soft drinks may be consumed outside of the dance studio.

Q: Do I need to bring a partner?
A: No partner required. The idea is to dance with a bunch of people, that’s what makes it social dancing. The lesson at the start of the night will give you a taste of this, as we change partners throughout the lesson, and let you meet people you might like to dance with later.
If you do come with a partner and you don’t want to dance with others, that’s ok too, just let the teachers know at the start of the lesson.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Whatever makes you comfortable. No need to dress up, unless you want to. Dancing is exercise, and you may break a sweat, so be prepared with an extra shirt, a hand towel, deodorant. Shoes that allow you to move easily on the floor and will stay on your feet. Strictly no tap shoes.

We want our community to be a safe and inclusive place for everyone. Lindy Friday operates in accordance with the Swing Patrol Code of Conduct and Swing Patrol’s Covid Safe Plan.
