This spot has a great history with Swing Patrol and swing dancing. Previously known as Sidewalk Tango and The Tiki Bar, the location was the original home of Swing Patrol’s Friday socials, Fun Pit (early 2000s) and of Swing Patrol’s Balboa classes (BalPit / Richmond Balboa) and Sunday Blues socials.

In 2026 we’re back for social dancing and regular classes.

Throughout the year, Tango Esencia will be one of the venues for our monthly Friday night social. Imagine swinging out on that glorious floor, or chilling at the charming tables.
Bar service will be available for Lindy Fridays at this location. NO BYO. Please support the venue and buy a drink at the bar, so we can continue to dance at this stunning studio. Of course you can bring your own water bottle.
Swing Patrol Richmond
Commencing Tuesday 7 April, Swing Patrol’s newest weekly class venue opens at Tango Esencia. Beginner Lindy Hop classes every Tuesday with Mia and Jason.
