Miyako Miyazaki

Miya started dancing at the age of three and has spent most of her life training, performing, and teaching dance. Holding a Diploma in Performing Arts, she has experience across a wide range of dance styles. While she enjoys many forms of dance, jazz has become her favourite for its musicality and creativity. She loves lindy hop for the way it feels—the connection, momentum, and shared experience of the dance. As both a dancer and teacher, Miya continues to explore and develop her dancing, always searching for a greater sense of freedom, expression, and ease in movement.
She is the troupe leader and a teacher for Swing Patrol’s performance group, Shout!, and a member of the premier jazz dance troupe, The Rhythm Revellers. Miya has taught at both national and international events, including Cheek to Cheek in Taipei, Taiwan, and Boogie Down South in Margaret River, Australia.
As a competitor, Miya has achieved numerous placings in lindy hop, solo jazz, and balboa events across Australia and internationally. Most recently, at Bubble Pop in Taiwan, she placed 1st in Advanced Strictly, 1st in the All-Star Mix & Match, and 2nd in Advanced Solo Jazz.
Miya loves social dancing, choreographing, collaborating, teaching, and continuing to learn as a student herself. Outside of swing dancing, she is currently exploring hip hop and house dance.
