Swing Dance is an umbrella term that covers a variety of dances, danced to swing music. This “Choose Your Own Caloundra Adventure” workshop is a beginner-friendly sampler day designed to showcase the variety within swing dance. Students can explore different styles, learn from our team, and choose sessions that interest them. With an all-the-dances discount pass available, the more you dance, the more you save!

Each session will be pitched at a true introductory level, with no prior experience required. Ideal for complete beginners, anyone feeling rusty, or dancers wanting to try something new in a low-pressure setting.

*Please arrive for sessions a few minutes before the advertised start time, to check in and be ready to dance at the start of the session.*

LEAD OR FOLLOW: In most sessions^, we will be teaching partnered swing dances. You will be required to book as either a Lead or a Follow. The Lead “directs” the dance, indicating or instigating the moves and the direction. The Follow responds to the lead, interprets the moves, and has room to add personal styling/embellishments. Like jazz/swing music, it’s seen as a “call & response” partnership. Choose whichever role you wish. Yes, you can book for a different role in different individual sessions. Pair Passes are available (for 1 x Lead and 1 x Follow) for ease of booking, though we change partners throughout the workshop for a better learning experience.
^ The exception is the Shim Sham session – this is a solo dance, no lead/follow required, tickets will be sold as Admit One or Pair Pass (if you’re booking for you and a friend).

All sessions are $10 each.
OR choose a Full Workshop Pass for all 4 sessions and pay just $28 for the full 2 hours of dancing fun.

TICKET OPTIONS: The workshop schedule is divided into four 30minute Sessions. All sessions are open to dancers of any level of experience. With Individual Pass tickets, choose any one, two or three sessions for the standard price. Or choose a Full Workshop Pass (for all 4 sessions) and the per-session price reduces.

If you’re booking for yourself and a dance partner (1 x Lead and 1 x Follow), select a Pair Pass – either Individual session Pair Pass, or a Full Workshop Pair Pass.

WAITLIST: If your preferred ticket type is sold out Text Swing Patrol on 0412 309 311, with your name, the workshop title, and which tickets you want, and Swing Patrol will text you back if tickets become available, giving you an exclusive Access Code to use for booking within a specific window of time.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY: If you need to cancel due to illness/Public Health & Safety, a refund will be available as long as you advise Swing Patrol via text to 0412 309 311 before 9am on the day of the event.

Cancellations for reasons other than Public Health & Safety: As the venue has a fixed capacity, refunds are not possible without 48 hours notice, as we may have turned away other dancers and need time to give others the opportunity to snap up your spot. Thanks for understanding. Where applicable, a full or partial refund (less administration fee) may be available up to 1.30pm on the Friday prior to the workshop. Text Swing Patrol on 0412 309 311.
