Weekly classes for beginners, beginner plus and intermediate level swing dancers.

Level 1 – Beginners | 6.00pm – 7.00pm
Brand new to swing? This is the class for you. Everyone welcome! This class is all about having fun, getting used to the basic steps, meeting new people and learning about what makes Swing such a wonderful and fun social dance. Assuming no prior knowledge, the instructors will teach all rhythms from scratch and work to build up the repertoire.

Level 1.5 – Beginner Plus | 7.15pm – 8.15pm
Moving beyond Beginner class, with focus on 8-count swing outs and other classic steps, this class focuses on building your catalogue of Lindy Hop moves with a highlight on lead and follow technique to gear you up for social dancing. This is the bridging class between Level 1 and Level 2.

Level 2/2.5 – Intermediate/intermediate Plus | 8.30pm – 9.30pm
This class moves beyond the classic swing rhythms and steps. You will need to have a good amount of experience in 6-count swing, Charleston (jockey position and tandem) as well as the standard 8-count Lindy Hop steps including, of course, the Lindy Hop Swingout. We aim to strengthen your social dancing in this class by teaching you footwork variations, rhythm changes, more complicated lead:follow moves/technique, self expression and how to dance at all tempos.

* MONTHLY – 1st Thursday of the month *
Swing City – social dancing | 8.15 – 10.30pm
On the first Thursday of the month, we defer the 8.30pm Intermediate level class for hours of dedicated social dancing, featuring local DJs playing swinging jazz.
Swing out on the big, beautiful dance floor at Melbourne City Ballroom.
Cost is $10 for social dancing only, or free if you join in a class on the night.
