Are you a Collegiate Shag fan, keen to develop your skills in a focused environment? Want to level up from what your current lessons can offer? Do you fondly recall Collegiate Shag routines from the past and want to be part of a new one?

In a new 4-session course, Swing Patrol is delighted to offer a special opportunity to learn a Collegiate Shag routine, aimed at performing at the Swing Spring Show & Dance Party 2026.

The routine will be designed for “Beginner Plus” Collegiate Shag dancers. You should be familiar with the standard Shag rhythms, know some basic shapes/moves, and already have partner dancing skills. We will not be teaching the fundamentals of Shag in this course, instead focusing on the moves and transitions, the musicality and the flow of the routine.

Dates: Saturdays 15, 22 & 29 August, and 5 September 2026.
This routine course runs for 4 consecutive weeks, Saturdays 15 Aug – 5 Sep, for two hours each afternoon, 2.45 – 4.45pm.
If you can’t make it to every session, we can accommodate, but it’s preferable that you can attend the majority of sessions. If you miss a week, you may need to do a bit of catching up in your own time, via recap videos.

Schedule: Door open from 2.30pm. Dancing will commence at 2.45pm. Please be prompt, so we can maximise our learning & practice time.

Location: Carlton Scout Hall – 12 Shakespeare St Carlton North 3054
[If taking public transport, Stop 116 on the #6 and #1 Tram Routes. If driving, allow plenty of time for parking. ]

Cost and Registration:
$120 per person for the full course – Registrations open 9am Saturday 11 JulyBOOK HERE

If you can’t make it every week, contact Swing Patrol on [email protected] advising which dates you can’t attend and we’ll give you a discount code. Please note, if you can’t attend at least 3 of the 4 sessions, you will need to be an experienced Collegiate Shag dancer who picks up choreography quickly.

** Attendance is by online registration only. We need participants to register in advance, so that we can monitor the ratio of Leads and Follows to ensure optimum learning for partner dancing.
Registrations will close at 9.00am on the day the course commences, unless sold out in advance.

Lead or Follow, and Waitlist: As we are preparing a partner dance routine for performance, attendees will need to register as either Lead or Follow. Pair Passes (1 x Lead and 1 x Follow) are available for ease of booking, if you’re booking for you and a friend. We will monitor registrations to keep the Lead:Follow balance workable for a partnered routine. If your preferred ticket type is sold out, Text Swing Patrol on 0412 309 311, with your name, the course title, and which tickets you want, and Swing Patrol will text you back if places become available.

The Spring Swing Show: Saturday 12 September 2026, at The Space in Prahran.
Entry ticket to the Spring Swing Show is additional and not included in the course fee. Performers tickets will go on sale on 31 July.
If you can’t make the event, or you’re not keen on performing, you can still take part in the course, to build your skills and enjoy a fun learning experience.
